Warrior Hope and Care Center Camp Pendleton

The Warrior Hope and Care Center (WHCC) provides primary medical care, mental health counseling, professional training and education, physical conditioning and transition services for Wounded, Ill and Injured Marines and Sailors.

This 30,000 square foot structure has 38 office spaces and accommodates Wounded Warrior Family Readiness staff, Licensed Clinical Social Workers and Recovery Care Coordinators. The Center also hosts the Battalion's Warrior Athletic Reconditioning - Program (WAR-P) which operates a state of the art physical training facility and is staffed by recreation and sports specialists and coaches. The Center also contains a community area which includes a family lounge, child play area, computer lounge, VTC classroom, and presentation and training rooms.

The Center was originally conceived in 2007 by the Hope For The Warrior Foundation, along the same lines as the Center for the Intrepid at Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. The Center is proud of its Platinum Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) designation, and has achieved this through its numerous sustainable and environmental protective features, such as an energy measurement and verification system that enables residents to monitor energy usage in real time, grey water system for landscape irrigation, underground storm water treatment to eliminate above ground detention areas, and a 100% solar hot water heating system for the outdoor pool. Also unique to the Center is that all construction materials were procured locally within North County and 75% of construction waste was diverted to recycling facilities instead of landfills.

The Warrior Hope and Care Center cost approximately $29 million to construct.
