Marine veteran Gunnery Sgt. Gary Triplett joined the Marine Corps in August 1996 as an 0369 infantry unit leader. He transitioned from the Marines in 2012.
Triplett credits the Wounded Warrior Regiment and Operation Warfighter for helping him get where he is today. He currently works for the Department of Defense, Defense Security Service as an industrial security specialist. He oversees the storage, usage, distribution and protection of classified information is conducted properly and in accordance with government regulations by private industries.
He believes, “Not very many employers [understand] who you were or what you did while you were on active duty. Don't rest on your laurels. Don't get down on yourself because you can't continue on in the military, accept the "new normal" and work toward your goals!”
“If you're serious about working after discharge, then take the program serious,” is his advice to transitioning wounded, ill or injured Marines. “Always make a copy of any and all documents pertaining to your discharge, something [might] get lost or processed incorrectly.”
