The Wounded Warrior Regiment lost a cherished member of our family on February 27, 2016. "We are devastated by the loss of Crystal Hamilton," said Col. Scott D. Campbell, WWR commander. "Our hearts go out to her son, her family and all those who, like so many of us, loved her."
Crystal Hamilton was a dedicated member of the WWR team, serving as a Recovery Care Coordinator in the detachment at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. For nearly four years, Crystal served the wounded, ill, and injured Marines of our Regiment, as well as their families. She touched the lives of so many, from the staff and families of recovering Marines to the benevolent organizations she worked with to assist in the success of recovering Marines. Around the detachment, she was known for her bright smile and exuberant personality that lit up any room and brought comfort to those around her.
More important than the work she did with us was the devotion and dedication she had for her son. Crystal was a loving mother, who just days ago was beaming with pride that her son had made the honor roll at school. Although we have lost Crystal here on earth, heaven has gained her. Those who know Crystal know she will continue to watch out for her Marines and their families, her friends, and most importantly her son and family who were left behind.
