Wounded Warrior Regiment Leadership

Following graduation from Florida State University, Colonel Miller was commissioned via the Platoon Leaders Class (PLC) Program in April 1990 and attended The Basic School and the Infantry Officer Course in Quantico, Virginia.

Colonel Miller reported to 3rd Battalion, 2d Marines, 2d Marine Division where he served as a Rifle Platoon Commander, Weapons Platoon Commander, and Executive Officer, Lima Company.  During this time period Colonel Miller attended and graduated Marine Scout Sniper School, Quantico, VA. Additionally, he served as a Heavy Machinegun Platoon Commander and Executive Officer, Weapons Company.

In November 1993, Colonel Miller reported to the Combined Arms Staff Trainer (CAST) until transferring to School of Infantry-East in July 1994.  While assigned at School of Infantry-East, he served as the Operations Officer, Marine Combat Training Battalion, Commanding Officer of Advanced Infantry Training Company, and Battalion Executive Officer, Infantry Training Battalion.  In September 1996, he attended the Infantry Officer Advanced Course, Ft. Benning, Georgia, graduating on the Commandants List.

In April 1997, Colonel Miller reported to 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines where he served as the Commanding Officer, India Company and the Commanding Officer, Weapons Company. During this time Colonel Miller graduated from Weapons Tactics Instructor Course (WTI).

In April 2000, Colonel Miller reported to Manpower Management, Headquarters Marine Corps, Quantico, Virginia where he served as the General Officer Matters Officer.  In April 2002, he attended the Joint Forces Staff College, Norfolk, Virginia.  Following school, he was assigned to Marine Corps Combat Development Command (MCCDC), Future Warfighting Division and Expeditionary Strike Group action officer. 

In February 2003, Colonel Miller was assigned as an Individual Augment to the Office of Reconstruction and Humanitarian Assistance (ORHA), Office of Secretary of Defense in support of Operation Iraq Freedom I. While assigned to ORHA, which later became Coalitional Provisional Authority (CPA), he served as the Force Protection Officer/Ground Force Commander for the Presidential Palace, Baghdad, Iraq.

In June 2004, Colonel Miller transferred to 3d Battalion, 8^th Marines, 2d Marine Division, to serve as Battalion Executive Officer.  During this tour he served in Operation Iraq Freedom 2.2 & 3.1/ 04-06 in the Fallujah Area of Operation. 

Upon completion of serving as the Battalion Executive Officer in Oct 2005, Colonel Miller transferred to 6^th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division, as the Regimental Operations Officer.  In May 2006 he transferred to the School of Infantry-East to serve as Commanding Officer, Infantry Training Battalion (East). In June 2008, he changed command and was reassigned as the Commanding Officer, Advanced Infantry Training Battalion (East). 

In May 2009 Colonel Miller was reassigned as the Irregular Warfare Officer, Joint Force Development and Integration Division, J-7, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.  Upon completion of his Joint Staff tour in June 2011, he was reassigned as the Fleet Marine Officer and Director for Plans and Exercises, 5^th Fleet/US Naval Forces Central Command, Naval Support Activity, Bahrain.

In August 2012, Colonel Miller was reassigned as the Branch Head, Manpower Management Integration Branch, Manpower and Reserve Affairs, Quantico, VA. Upon completion of this assignment in May 2014 Colonel Miller was selected to serve as Executive Assistant, to Deputy Commandant of Manpower & Reserve Affairs, Quantico, VA.

In March 2017, Colonel Miller was reassigned to his current position as Commanding Officer, Wounded Warrior Regiment, Quantico, VA.

Colonel Miller’s personal awards include the Legion of Merit (gold star in lieu of second award), Bronze Star (gold star in lieu of second award), the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (two gold stars in lieu of third award), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal (gold star in lieu of second award), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and Basic Parachutist Wings. 

Upon completion of The Basic School and Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, LtCol Coleman reported to Battery K, 3d Battalion, 11th Marines. He served as a Forward Observer, Fire Direction Officer, Liaison Officer and Executive Officer. He was subsequently assigned to The Basic School and served as a Primary Instructor, Staff Platoon Commander and the S-3 Scheduling Officer.

In 1999, upon graduation from the Field Artillery Captain’s Career Course he reported to 3rd Marine Division in Okinawa, He was assigned the duties as the Assistant Operations Officer, 4th Marine Regiment; Commanding Officer, Headquarters Battery, 12th Marine Regiment; and, Aide De Camp, Commanding General, 3rd Marine Division.

In 2002 he was assigned the duties of the Battalion Liaison Officer, 1st Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment and was attached to 1st Marine Regiment as the Regimental Combat Team Fire Support Coordinator during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. After combat operations were complete he was assigned as the Battalion Operations Officer for the re-deployment of the battalion from Iraq. He then deployed to Iraq for a second time as the planner for the 1st Marine Division Effects Cell and the Division Fires Support Coordinator. Upon his return to 1st Battalion, 11th Marines and was assigned as the Battalion Executive Officer.

In 2005, he assumed command of Marine Corps Recruiting Station Springfield Massachusetts and three years later attended The Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, Virginia. Upon graduation he was assigned as the Regimental Inspector-Instructor for 14th Marine Regiment in July 2009.

LtCol Coleman assumed command of 2d Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO) on February 24 2012. He deployed with the company in support of OEF in May 2012. Due to force reduction plans, he and the majority of the company redeployed in September of 2012.  In May of 2014 he relinquished command of 2d ANGLICO and reported to Manpower and Reserve Affairs to serve with the Marine Corps Force Innovation Office (MCFIO).

LtCol Coleman is married to the former Linda Bontempo of Toms River, NJ and has five children: KelseyAnne 13, Allison 11, Patrick 11, Elizabeth 11, and Emily 11.

Sergeant Major Simburger enlisted in the Marine Corps in October of 1988 and reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD), Parris Island, South Carolina in July of 1989 for recruit training.  Upon completion of recruit training and Marine Combat Training, he was transferred to Marine Corps Communications Electronics School, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, 29 Palms, California for training as a field radio operator. After completion of MOS school, Sergeant Major Simburger reported to 7th Communications Battalion, Okinawa, Japan for duty with Company A, serving as a radio operator/supervisor.  In December of 1990, he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of corporal.
    
 In October of 1991, Sergeant Major Simburger was transferred to 1st Battalion, 6th Marines, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  Shortly after arrival, Sergeant Major Simburger was reassigned as the communications chief, SPMAGTF UNITAS XXXIII.  Upon completion of the deployment, Sergeant Major Simburger was transferred to 3d Battalion, 6th Marines and was promoted to the rank of sergeant in January of 1994.  Sergeant Major Simburger participated in contingency operations Continue Hope, Deny Flight, and Uphold Democracy.  Upon return from deployment, Sergeant Major Simburger attended Sergeant's Course Class 1-95 and graduated as the honor graduate.  
    
 In April of 1995, Sergeant Major Simburger reported to Drill Instructor School Class 3-95, MCRD, San Diego, California.  Upon completion of school, Sergeant Major Simburger was assigned to Company G, 2d Recruit Training Battalion and also served as a Night Processing DI with Receiving Co, Support Battalion. After successfully completing his tour, Sergeant Major Simburger was assigned to 1st Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO), I MEF Headquarters Group (MHG), Camp Pendleton, California as a radio chief.  Upon the deactivation of 1st ANGLICO in May of 1999, Sergeant Major Simburger assumed the duties as the communications chief, I Marine Liaison Element, I MHG, I MEF.
    
 In May of 2000, Sergeant Major Simburger transferred to the Inspector/Instructor Staff, 3D ANGLICO, Long Beach, California and assumed the duties as the I&I communications chief.  In April of 2001, he was promoted to the rank of gunnery sergeant and assumed the duties as a static line jumpmaster and the assistant parachute safety officer.  Upon the unit's activation in January of 2003, Sergeant Major Simburger was assigned as the team chief, Supporting Arms Liaison Team "G", 3d Brigade Platoon.  He was subsequently attached to the 1st Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (The Paras), 16th Air Assault Brigade, I U.K. Division for Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF).  Upon return from OIF, Sergeant Major Simburger was selected for and promoted to the rank of first sergeant.  

 In May of 2004, Sergeant Major Simburger was transferred to 8th Communication Battalion, II MHG, II MEF, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and was assigned as the First Sergeant for Company A.  Sergeant Major Simburger deployed in support of OIF 04-06.2, from August 2005 to March 2006.  In May of 2007, Sergeant Major Simburger was transferred to MCRD, San Diego, California, and assumed the duties as the First Sergeant for Company B, 1st Recruit Training Battalion.  In May of 2008, Sergeant Major Simburger was promoted to his present grade. He was posted as the Battalion Sergeant Major, 1st Recruit Training Battalion in June of 2008 until April of 2009 when he assumed the duties as the Support Battalion Sergeant Major.  Sergeant Major Simburger relinquished his post as the Support Battalion Sergeant Major on 19 February 2010 and reported for duty as the Sergeant Major, 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division on 4 March 2010.  During this assignment, Sergeant Major Simburger deployed with the battalion in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 10.2, from October 2010 to May 2011 and 12.1 from April to October 2012.  Sergeant Major Simburger relinquished his post on 26 June 2013 and assumed the duties as the Installation Sergeant Major, Marine Corps Logistics Base - Barstow, California on 28 June 2013.  Sergeant Major Simburger assumed his current assignment as the Sergeant Major for the Wounded Warrior Regiment on 19 February 2016.
    
Sergeant Major Simburger's personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (2d award), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3d award), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4th award), and the Combat Action Ribbon (2d award).  He is a qualified parachutist and is authorized to wear the Navy and Marine Corps Parachutist insignia.  Sergeant Major Simburger is a graduate of the U.S. Army Static Line Jumpmaster Course and Pathfinder Course.  Sergeant Major Simburger holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from American Military University.

Mr. Williamson began his Civil Service career in October 2001 with his appointment as President, Department of the Navy Physical Evaluation Board, Washington, DC. In December 2007, he was selected for his current position as the Command Advisor for the Wounded Warrior Regiment.

As Command Advisor, Mr. Williamson advises the Regimental Commander and other senior Marine Corps officers, to include the Commandant of the Marine Corps, on all matters related to wounded warrior and family care coordination.

Previous to his initial Civil Service appointment, Mr. Williamson completed a distinguished career of 32 years active naval service. Mr. Williamson enlisted in June 1969 and promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer concurrent with his commissioning as an Ensign in April 1979 through the Navy’s In-Service Procurement Program. As an Administration Limited Duty Officer, he held a variety of leadership and command positions at sea and ashore. Mr. Williamson retired from active duty in January 2001 as a Commander.

In recognition of his outstanding performance of duty as the President, Department of the Navy Physical Evaluation Board, Mr. Williamson was awarded the Superior Civilian Service Award in 2006. In 2014, Mr. Williamson was awarded the Meritorious Civilian Service Award for his service with the Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment.
