Whether serving in combat operations or in training, individual Marines can incur a wound, injury, or illness that may have a long-term impact on their lives and ability to continue their career. Wounded, ill or injured (WII) Marines can return to full and unrestricted duty or transition to civilian life. Transitioning Marines should refer to the Integrated Disability Evaluation System process that will determine their fitness for continued military service.

In certain circumstances, assignment to the Wounded Warrior Regiment may be appropriate and necessary to ensure the Marine’s successful transition through the phases of recovery. Standard considerations for assignment may include, but are not exclusive to the following:
