Importance of Families in the Marine Corps
Time and time again, we have heard the statement that the “Toughest Job in the Corps (Navy)” is the job of a spouse. There couldn’t be a more valid statement. It is not only the spouse but also parents, siblings, and children who carry a heavy load. The Marine Corps recognizes this and wants to do what it can to support our families.
Being part of the Marine Corps comes with a unique lifestyle and many challenges that our civilian counterparts do not face. This is especially true for our Recovering Service Members and their families--but you are not alone. We are here to assist you in any way we can.
Whether it is an empathetic ear, resource and referral information or simply someone to answer questions about the Wounded Warrior program and/or the process that your loved one will go through, we are here to assist you in any way possible. The Wounded Warrior Battalion-West has qualified staff members committed to supporting and assisting all of our families-not just spouses but also Mom, Dad, Aunts, Uncles, and other extended family members as well.
Our Family Readiness Officer oversees our Family Readiness program and provides support to those Marines and Sailors located at WWBn-West as well as those in-patients and out-patients at the hospitals that fall under the WWBn-West umbrella.
