The barge was built by Marines from Wounded Warrior Battalion West -Detachment Hawaii. Jensen had a barge but it was hazardous, so the Marines volunteered to build him a new one. About three Marines worked on the barge regularly while others stopped by and helped occasionally.

Chaplain brings her 'various backgrounds' to bear on Wounded Warrior Regiment
The military career of Cmdr. Laura Bender, regimental chaplain for the Wounded Warrior Regiment aboard Quantico, started with a practical joke. She had served as a United Methodist minister in her native New York City for about 13 years when, in 1999, a chaplain sent a letter to area churches, seeking interest in the military chaplaincy. She discarded the note, but her mother, who was a secretary at another church, wrote Bender's name on one of the reply cards and sent it back.

Marines with Wounded Warrior Battalion West - Detachment Hawaii submerged in Marine fashion during a day of scuba diving at Hawaii Kai, March 17. Families and friends showed up in support of the event, as certified divers from Island Divers and Adaptive Heroes guided the Marines through scuba diving classes for a day of fun under the sea and as a means of physical and mental rehabilitation.
